I was incredibly honoured when the Chairman of New Zealand Immigration contacted me to advise that I had been put forward as a nomination for Migrant of the year. I never expected to make it all the way to the final (three) however I was truly humbled.
The award is in recognition of people migrants coming into the country and substantially adding value, skill and knowledge to New Zealand.
Suffice to say, being a runner up to Grace Liu who has built a truly amazing school of music, was in itself amazing.
Unfortunately I was not able to represent myself at the award ceremony however I did fly into Aukland recently to personally congratulate Ms Liu on her achievement and took time to view the school and see what they were doing.
